Los determinantes numerales cuantifican al sustantivo de manera precisa. Se pueden dividir en cuatro apartados: cardinales, ordinales, fraccionarios y multiplicativos
- Cardinales*
Designan el número exacto de objetos: one = uno, two = dos, three = tres, four = cuatro, etc...
- Unidades y decenas van unidas por guión (-)
twenty-four = veinticuatro
- En el lenguaje coloquial, hundred, thousand y million suelen ir precedidos de "a"
a hundred = cien
a thousand = mil
a million = un millón
- En lenguaje formal o con deseo de ser mas exacto, suelen ir precedidos de "one" (se utiliza en inglés británico, en inglés americano no se utiliza)
one hundred and fourty-three pounds = 143 libras (inglés británico)
three hundred seventy-five = 375 (inglés americano)
- Detrás de otro numeral se usa "one"
two thousand and one hundred = 2100
- Ordinales*
Señalan el lugar que ocupa un objeto en una serie ordenada de objetos: first = primero, second = segundo, third = tercero, fourth = cuarto,etc...
- Fraccionarios (fracciones, decimales, porcentajes)
Expresan una fracción de una unidad: 1\2 one half, 0.25 point two five, 45% forty-five percent
1/2 = one half, a half
1/3 = one third, a third
2/3 = two thirds
1/4 = a fourth, a quarter
3/4 = three fourths, three quarters
2/5 = two fifths
0.25 = point two five
0.50 = point five
0.75 = point seven five
21.32 = twenty-one point three two
0.78 = point seven eight
45% = forty-five percent
-5 = minus five
+5 = plus five
- Multiplicativos
Expresan el múltiplo de una unidad: once = una vez, twice = dos veces, three times = tres veces, double = doble, triple = triple, etc...
